Family Times
It sure is time to post some pictures. Jorge is back from Mexico. My mom is back from California. It sounds like they both had the opportunity to catch up with people. Jorge hadn't been to Mexico since he left almost 20 years ago! He shared how his uncle had tears of joy, just at the sight of him. Saying that he thought he'd die before seeing Jorge again. I don't see my husbands face light up often. It usually happens when he is with his family or sharing stories of times spent together as a family. I'll admit that sometimes I am bothered by the fact that his face looks happiest when he's with his clan. I want him to be happiest with us. But I think that he is happiest with us, he's just with us all the time. When he "gets" to be with his family its out of the norm - special. He enjoys laughing at old times - you know stuff that happened a long time ago. He enjoyed visiting his hometown and seeing the new house his father built for us. (well for when any of his kids + family go to visit for an extended time). He just enjoys being himself. Not who he's supposed to be, but just himself. I think that can be true for most of us. I know when I'm with "my clan" I can just be me. We can laugh about stuff that goes way back, without explanation. Elia can belch at her hearts desire (even though it still drives us nuts), I can remember our after Bible Quiz belching contests. There's so much history with family and I'm glad mine is good history that being together we can just pick up where we left off. I'm glad that Jorge has that chance to reconnect with his brother's recently and visit his home. He'd been a long while without that feeling of connection. I know I'd surely miss that if I was disconnected from my family for an extended time. Thank the Lord for Blogs!
