I was completely surprised. Usually I think I stay into the loop enough to not get surprised. October is Pastor Appreciation Month. The first week we honored our Sr. Pastor, 2nd week we honored Youth/Assoc. Pastor, (that is our whole pastoral staff). This sunday we were having a potluck to celebrate. When I got up to dismiss the kids, Holly interrupted me by having the kids all give me pepsi. That was cute. Then I continued talking (each week before dismissing I give parents a little nugget of info. regarding what our focus for the day is). Pastor then interrupted me and proceeded to tell how much he appreciates me, etc. He said that I was a Pastor to the children of Grandview A/G and they wanted to honor me. He said a lot of nice things - I almost cried. They gave me a gift basket w/bonus. It was a wonderful feeling. Totally unexpected. God has brought me to Grandview A/G. I wouldn't be the person I am today without the leadership that I've been serving under. I have grown so much. It was nice to know that the growth is visible. I pray that I will continue to bring honor to God.
Later I found out all the people who knew that it was coming. Nobody leaked it out. Amazing!
Soon and very soon, I will have a Macbook of my own!!!! I am soooooo excited. Its all coming together. My mom is buying my current laptop. Macbook for my birthday now that's a nice gift. Woohoo!

Maggie,
That's so exciting. I'm so happy for you. I'm confused though by your post. Is the church getting it for you for your birthday? I couldn't tell for sure how you are getting it. You didn't tell me all the good stuff today about your basket and honors. I would have enjoyed that. Please fill me in at some point. See ya!
sorry, to clarify. the church is not getting me a Macbook. but they gave me a nice$$ gift that was just the extra push i needed. i've wanted one. knew i'd have to sell mine plus come up with quite a bit more. this has helped make it more affordable for my budget.
also Susan - it's not like there's ever time anymore at work to really talk about stuff - you know how it is. Thank goodness for THE BLOG.
Okay. I understand, not that it's any of my business, but that's never stopped me before. Still, I'm very happy for you. You deserve it. You work very hard at church (not to mention home and work). I admire and respect you. I just don't tell you often enough. Besides it's easier to do it by typing than to actually have to tell you that kind of sappy stuff in person. Have a good night. It's time for us to eat here now that Jim's home.
I posted a comment on this subject but put it in the wrong spot sorry.
thanks for the nice comment, anonymous, - whoever you are. i am glad that i can be a blessing to you.
